About Rony Golan

Rony Golan is a professional genealogist based in Israel and a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. He is a graduate of the Tel Aviv University Law Faculty and a member of the Israel Bar (1986), and serves as an expert witness on genealogy in Israeli courts. An educator and lecturer on genealogy in various forums, Golan is a legal advisor to the International Institute for Jewish Genealogy and Paul Jacobi Center (IIJG) in Jerusalem and has presented at several IAJGS conferences. Rony applies his legal training and knowledge in the fields of law, history, and geography into his work as a genealogist, in order to locate potential heirs in court hearings in inheritance cases.

Rony is a member of the Tapuz Family Roots forum JGS (member of IAJGS). As part of his pro bono public work in the field of genealogy, he served as moderator for several years in the main discussion forum on the JewishGen website and has sat on JewishGen's ad-hoc committee on guidelines review. He has also served as member of the organizing committee and panel chair in two international conferences on Jewish Genealogy and the Internet, hosted by the Netvision Institute for Internet Studies at the Faculty of Management, Tel Aviv University.

Rony serves as member and Legal Counsel to the International Institute for Jewish Genealogy (IIJG) and the Paul Jacobi Center (NPO) in Jerusalem.

Rony also gives lectures to various forums on the subject of inheritance laws, estates and making last wills and testaments. He has spoken at international conferences organised by the International Association of Jewish Genealogy Societies (IAJGS) in Jerusalem (2004), New York (2006), Chicago (2008), Los Angeles (2010) and at the Tel-Aviv University Netvision Institute for Internet Studies. He has also lectured at the Institute for Advanced Judicial Studies and the Institute of Advanced Law Studies.

Rony coordinates courses and seminars on genealogy for students, organizations, and the general public, and lectures at these courses.

Rony has conducted genealogical studies all over the world, namely in the United States, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Russia, France, Brazil, Australia, Israel, etc.
