About Phil Goldfarb
Phil Goldfarb is the President of the Tulsa Jewish Genealogical Society. Originally from New Jersey, he currently lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy High School and Junior College. After OMA, he received a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from Oklahoma State University and then attended graduate school at the University of Oklahoma where he majored in Pharmacy and minored in business.
After pharmacy school, he fulfilled his military duty in the Army Medical Service Corps and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas where he served as the administrative officer for the Brooke Army Medical Center retiring as a Captain, USAR. After completing his active military service, he entered the pharmaceutical industry and was first employed by Bristol-Myers. He received many awards while working for Bristol-Myers and in fact was the youngest district manager in the company's history. In 1988, he was recruited by a small medical communications company, and helped them move from a $5 million company with 50 employees to a $250 million company and 1,200 employees within a 10 year period and assisted in taking the Company public. After four years as a public company, it was bought by Cardinal Health, a Fortune 19 Company where Phil became their Vice President of Operations in the Healthcare Marketing Services Division for additional 5 years until his retirement. Phil currently consults in the health care industry for biopharmaceutical companies bringing new drugs to market.
A history and biography buff since he could first read, Phil’s hobby for over 30 years has been history and genealogy as he is the Founding and current President of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Tulsa. He has been a genealogy contributor for several web sites, published articles on genealogy in periodicals, co-authored a chapter for a forthcoming genealogy book, assisted with the marketing plan for Jewishgen.org, and is a marketing committee member of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS). He has lectured extensively on various topics in genealogy. Phil has traced his family back to the 1700’s in Lithuania and Belarus and in June of this year published his first book of a series titled “A Page of History.”
Phil recently assisted the new Military History Museum in Broken Arrow, OK with their opening as the Preparator and Curator and sits on the Board of Trustees for several non-profit organizations in the Tulsa and Claremore area. He was recently elected to the Hall of Fame for the Oklahoma Military Academy Alumni Association. Phil and his wife of 38 years, Lisa Mulmed Goldfarb has two children and two grandchildren.
