About Nicole Ballenger
Nicole Ballenger recently retired from the University of Wyoming, where she taught agricultural economics and served as a university administrator. She was born in Chicago in 1952, grew up in northern California, and attended the University of California at Santa Cruz and Davis. Retirement has given Nicole the freedom to delve further into her family and Jewish roots, and to research the life of her great grandfather's first cousin, portrait painter Marie Rosenthal Hatschek.
