Israel Blajberg, a retired engineer and professor, is a first-generation Brazilian born of Polish descent (1945). He is a freelance writer on Jewish genealogy, history and travel; author of two books [in Portuguese] on Jewish Brazilian soldiers since 1500; and was Citizenship Director of Rio de Janeiro Jewish Federation (FIERJ) from 2006 to 2016.
