The Shealtiel Family World Association is delighted to announce its exciting 8th World Family Reunion from July 1 – 5, 2015 in Mexico City. The reunion, packed with interesting activities from beginning to end, is an opportunity for cousins from throughout the world to gather, talk, and learn about the fascinating Saltiel family history. Previous reunions welcomed hundreds of family members at delightful venues such as Amsterdam, Salonica (Thessaloniki), Barcelona, Montpellier (France), Israel, Crete, and New York City. Information about the vibrant Shealtiel family association and copies of its newsletter, the Shealtiel Gazette, can be found on the Association’s web site at www.shealtiel.com
The distinguished Shealtiels have a traditional claim of descent from the Biblical King David, as chronicled by the historian Moshe Shaltiel-Gracian. The surname first occurs in 1097 on the earliest Jewish tombstone to be found in Spain. The name appears regularly in the records of Aragon (northeastern Spain) until the Jewish expulsion in 1492. From the 1390s onward, the surname is found first throughout the Mediterranean, followed by the rest of Europe and other places of Jewish settlement all over the globe.
Today, the Shealtiel and related Gracian and Hen families* number approximately 2,500 individuals from over six hundred households in thirty nations— and members of the family are constantly discovering more! While much of the family remains Jewish, this is a non-denominational event that embraces Shealtiel descendants of all nations, colors and creeds. These reunions are unique, exciting events where participants get to meet cousins they never knew they had, learn about family history, and rekindle old friendships.

Angela Morales Snyder says
My grandfather Angel Flores De Graciano was born in San Jose Del Cabo, Baja California, Mx, I don’t know too much about his family history. But I would love to know more about the migration of the Graciano surname from Spain to Mexico, when did this migration occur, was it because of religious persecution?
